The whole picture

Look at spot 1
The baobab trunk spreads thick, and the sky is the blue-violet of dusk. One trunk becomes the pillar of the picture.
Look at spot 2
People wear striped, dotted and checked cloth as they sit around the food. The patterns differ, so you can tell each person apart.
Look at spot 3
A patterned band along the edge wraps the picture. Blue and orange repeat in turn.
Five colors
Earth brown and orange are the most common, and the blue-violet of the dusk sky supports them as the opposite color.
Where your eyes go
Your eyes come down from the top of the tree to the table, then to the pattern in the lower-left corner. The tree is the vertical pillar in the middle.
